I stopped in my neighborhood bookstore today and picked up a copy of Of Sugar and Snow: A History of Ice Cream Making. The cover caught my eye initially, since it reminded me of the old-fashioned sundaes that they serve at the fabulous restaurant Sweetie Pie in the village. Needless to say, reading about the fascinating history of ice cream (seriously I couldn't put the book down) resulted in an intense sugar craving. So, I decided to make a homemade ice cream sandwich with Tate's Chocolate Chip Cookies (the amazing brown sugar ones from the bakeshop in the Hamptons) and Haagen-Dazs Five Mint ice cream. Because it was so hot in my apartment, the ice cream melted between the cookies perfectly, and the result was literally one of the most delicious desserts that I've ever had.
