In eighth grade my friend tried to dye my hair blonde. It turned bright orange, and my mother had a nervous breakdown. My next attempt was a few months later (after my hair had been returned to a boring shade of brown by my mother's colorist). I spritzed my hair with a mixture of lemon juice and chamomile tea and lay out in the sun for two hours. I got a sunburn but no blonde. Well, now that I am older and wiser (and have a colorist who helped me to finally acknowledge that I "can't ever be a blonde"), I settle for golden highlights instead. However, I can still satisfy my inner blonde by using John Frieda Sheer Blonde Go Blonder Lightening Shampoo and Conditioner to keep my highlights bright and my mother and my colorist happy. You can get it at your local drugstore.
