Turkish Delights

In C.S. Lewis' The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, the White Witch tempts Edmund with the promise of Turkish Delight, a rose flavored jelly candy dusted in powdered sugar. It's chewy and addictively sweet. Recently, when I received Balmain's Ambre Gris Perfume as an early birthday present from The Beast, I realized that the scent reminded me of the delectable sweet. Subsequently, I became even more enamored with the scent, whose delicate fragrance with its notes of sugared almonds, rose petals, and subtle musk, makes it one of the most desirable and wearable perfumes. The faceted gold-topped bottle reminds me of The Dome of the Rock and is total eye-candy. Which leads me to my next Turkish Delight, these coveted diamond and gemstone rings by Turkish jeweler Sevan Bicakci. Each ring, uniquely inspired by the historical architecture of Turkey, such as the Hagia Sophia and Topkapi Palace's Fountain of Ahmet III, holds a miniature Ottoman world of gleaming minarets underneath domed glass. When you gaze into the central dome of the ring you will be visually transported, in the manner of a C.S. Lewis novel, into a world beyond even your wildest fantasies.
