Liberty of London's Liberation

For many years the brand Liberty of London has been synonymous with beautifully delicate floral fabrics fashioned into tailored blouses, handkerchiefs, and men's ties, all for upper-crust Londoners. However, in the hands of modern designers who derive inspiration from the Liberty of London fabrics they use to fashion their wares, the Liberty look takes on an edgy brand of hipster sex appeal that is less prim and proper and more gothic meets naughty school girl. This long wooden bead necklace covered in navy Liberty fabric and adorned with black velvet ribbon is totally Lanvin-esque (for less than a fourth of the price), and it is reminiscent of something Blair Waldorf would wear on the steps of the Met while sipping a latte. Dear Birthday's Liberty of London cotton bloomers have a sweet scalloped edge and are so gorgeous and delicate you'll want to own them in every color. The designers at Liberty have also seemingly embraced the new trend, as this Liberty Clock Scarf has an Edward Gorey vibe that is totally chic and a far cry from your grandma's floral hanky.
