Recently my mother took me to Rescue Beauty Lounge at 34 Gansevoort Street for a manicure. The nail technicians were lovely, the spa was beautiful and sunny with skylights and magazines galore, and every implement was either single use or sterilized. The best part of the whole experience is the amazing colors that you get to choose from, many of which are from Rescue's own line of designer polishes. I picked an electric violet color called Purple Haze, while my mother went for a bright pink called Smitten. I've had the polish on for four days now, and there is not a chip in sight. After your manicure, check out the wide variety of hard to find beauty products that they sell. I was pleasantly surprised to find the whole range of Creme de la Mer as well as Serge Lutens fragrances, among other lines. Now I don't have to run all the way up to Barney's or Saks whenever I want to buy one of these products. Rescue is truly a downtown girl's beauty mecca.
